Out on call with RSPCA inspectorate

This week I accompanied the RSPCA inspectorate on several calls in and around Newport.
The ride-along on Thursday 9 September gave me a chance to experience what RSPCA inspectorate deal with on a day-to-day basis. Throughout the course of a busy day RSPCA animal welfare officer Sian Burton dealt with a number of routine calls, including reports of alleged cruelty and dog and cat welfare.

My day out with the RSPCA was an invaluable opportunity to witness first hand the variety of calls they are asked to deal with. The welfare officers are among the first to follow up on reports from the public and their professional and approachable manner is commendable. I am very grateful to be given an opportunity to witness the work they do in Newport to protect animals.

RSPCA animal welfare officer Sian Burton who accompanied me said: “I was very pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate to the work that the RSPCA’s inspectorate do each and every day to help and protect animals across the Newport area.

“The RSPCA receives approximately 1.3 million calls each year and the breadth of visits made on this particular day highlights the diversity of issues we deal with in the interests of animal welfare.”

If you would like to help the RSPCA, you can give £3 now by texting HELP to 78866 (text costs £3 + one standard network rate message). They are a charity and rely on public donations to exist
