A new poll from the League Against Cruel Sports shows that 8 out of 10 people in Wales – including 85% of those polled in South East Wales – believe that fox hunting should remain illegal.
It is encouraging that people in all areas of Wales – including here in Newport – have spoken loudly and clearly in support of keeping the ban on fox hunting. Earlier this year the Conservative UK Government tried to sneak through amendments to get rid of the ban. Although they failed, they may well try it again – even in the face of overwhelming public opposition.
I wholeheartedly agree with the views of the majority in Wales – fox hunting is a barbaric practice posing as ‘sport’, and it has no place in 21st Century society. We must keep the ban.
