Earth Hour 2016

I’m backing WWF Cymru’s calls for the next Welsh Government to deliver a sustainable future for Wales, and am delighted to pledge my support for WWF’s Earth Hour campaign this year.

Every year, millions of people across the planet show their love for our planet and their commitment to protecting it by taking part in WWF’s Earth Hour.

The global lights-out has grown to be the world’s largest grassroots environmental movement with landmarks like Sydney Harbour Bridge and New York’s Times Square going dark for the hour.

And last year in Wales, over half a million people took part in WWF’s Earth Hour, as well as 235 schools across the country. Iconic Welsh landmarks like the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, the National Library in Aberystwyth, and Caernarfon and Caerphilly castles all went dark.

We know that climate change is going to have a massive impact on the way we all live our lives, but if individuals take small steps to live more sustainably, and if politicians take action to make Wales’ economy more sustainable, we can help tackle it.

I’m encouraging everyone to sign up to Earth Hour at wwf.org.uk/earthhour and to join the global celebration of our brilliant planet at 8.30pm on Saturday 19 March 2016.
